Finding your purpose in life
is key to your happiness

Many singles feel they can't be happy until they've found their purpose in life. They agonize over the will of God and think they'll ruin their destiny if they make the wrong choice.

We do different things at different stages. Maybe God is preparing you, all the while, and the lessons you're learning now are getting you ready for the task he has for you. Along the way, if you have the right attitude, you're serving him no matter what your job is.

Is this something you worry about? I used to. Then I started trusting God more, knowing that if I messed up, he is wise enough to turn my mess into a masterpiece.

This month's exploration of happiness includes some thoughts about your purpose in life…

Back atcha!

What you throw out
is what you get back,
If you toss out a punch,
Be expecting a whack.

Toss out a kiss
to Eskimo or Watusi,
Pucker up, baby,
here comes somethin' juicy.

Back atcha back atcha
That's how the world works.
There's fondue for nice folks,
and doo-doo for jerks.
If you're mean and nasty,
just wait for the bang.
Back atcha back atcha
That's life's boomerang.

So next time you're tempted
to be mean or gnarly,
take that evil thought
and send if off on a Harley.

'Cause what you throw out
is what comes back to you.
It ain't always pretty,
but it is always true.

Back atcha back atcha,
That's how the world works.
There's fondue for nice folks,
and doo-doo for jerks.
If you're mean and nasty,
just wait for the bang.
Back atcha back atcha,
That's life's boomerang.

April Quotoroonie

April's quotation comes from John Newton, Anglican clergyman and author of the hymn, "Amazing Grace":

I am not what I ought to be.
I am not what I want to be.
I am not what I hope to be.
But still, I am not what I used to be.
And by the grace of God, I am what I am.

~John Newton (1725-1807)~

The more unpopular Jesus Christ becomes, the tighter I hold onto him. The more the world hates him, the more I love him. How about you?

On your worst days, Jesus is the answer. And on your best days, Jesus stands above everything else. If you have Jesus, you know exactly what I mean. If you don't have Jesus, here's a place to find out more…

Are you losing time worrying?

Two leading causes of worry in single people are fear of the unknown and wondering if you'll be capable in a new situation.

Single & Sure, my ebook for singles, tackles both of those problems in a down-to-earth way.

First, since I've been a single adult for over 40 years, I've already had to deal with many of the life situations you'll be facing. Been there, done that, as they say. I handled some of them fine, and in others, well, I learned important lessons that I pass on to you. Either way, my experience will make you smarter and better prepared for the future.

Second, Single & Sure will build your confidence in your ability to handle unfamiliar situations. You'll learn to depend more on God. You'll keep things in the proper perspective. And, you'll see through the false fears you worried about in the past.

No ereader required. It's in PDF format so you can read it right on your computer, or print it out. There's a money back guarantee, and it's only $9.97. Worry less, enjoy life more with Single & Sure

Highway to Happyville

We're at mile marker 4 in our year-long study of happiness. This month I've collected a few goofy quotations I hope will bring a smile to your face:

“If you’re going to tell people the truth, be funny or they’ll kill you.”
Billy Wilder

"Yeah, I know I'm ugly...I said to a bartender, 'Make me a zombie.' He said 'God beat me to it.'"
Rodney Dangerfield

“My luck is so bad that if I bought a cemetery, people would stop dying.” Ed Furgol

“Marriage has no guarantees. If that’s what you’re looking for, go live with a car battery.”
Erma Bombeck

“I used to keep my college room mate from reading my personal mail by hiding it in her textbooks.”
Joan Welsh

"If all the world's a stage, I want to operate the trap door."
Paul Beatty

"If you die in an elevator, be sure to press the UP button."
Sam Levenson

Genius is more often found in a cracked pot than in a whole one.
E. B. White

"If a man smiles all the time, he's probably selling something that doesn't work."
George Carlin

"Never wear anything that panics the cat."
P.J. O'Rourke

Easter: A great time for fresh starts

I hope you had a beautiful Easter this year. Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is a great time for single people to make a fresh start in life. We all get kind of stale, comfortable in our own little rut.

New Year's is the typical time for resolutions, but Easter is when you remember the Savior of the world is on your side, giving his love to you every day of your life.

So if you've been in the dumpster lately, lift the lid and climb out! The adventure is ahead! Do something new and exciting this summer. Stretch yourself. Reach out. Make a promise to yourself and keep it!

And if you want to comment on this issue of Inspire-O-Gram or the single life in general, dance your digits over the keyboard by using our gluten-free contact form.

That's our April issue, fellow singletons. Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading, and we'll see you in May!

Keep the faith,
