Issue #011, February 27, 2007

Welcome to the February issue of Inspire-O-Gram, the ezine that helps you thrive in the single life.

We're a bit late this month, but better late than never, eh? Our theme for this issue is your attitude, one of the master-keys in living a happy life--as a single or a married person.

If you hate to get out of bed in the morning, try this article on how to wake up happy.

Our second feature article is about something we all do, we do too much of, and we do too often. I'm guilty of this myself, so I gave some serious thought to our more positive options if we like to complain.

Recently I've been reading some articles and book reviews about the "Gift of Singleness." Huh? Is that a communist plot? Well, it got my goofy mind going in the direction of a poem for all of us who've heard just about enough of that business:

The Gift (ack!) of Singleness

If Singleness really is a Gift,
I'd like to exchange mine, please.
'Cause my pastor's convinced
that we singles are afflicted
with some medieval disease.

We've got support groups and mixers,
and weight-loss elixirs,
and name tags if your memory fails ya,
events all designed to help us unwind,
and, I'm sure, to cure what ails ya.

I'd just like to say
that we're doing okay,
so don't tell us that we're set aparted.
We're folks just like you--
but we're one instead of two.
Hey, is this how re-gifting got started?

Quote time...

This month's quotation comes from Hugh Downs, famous broadcaster and journalist:

"A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes."
Hugh Downs

Stuff you may have missed

With over 200 pages on www.inspiration-for-singles.com, there are bound to be a few you've missed. Here are some that deal with this month's theme of doing a makeover on your attitude:

Can you really make a fresh start?

What's the best choice you can make in life?

Here's a crucial element in changing your attitude...

What's holding you back?

An attitude adjustment that can work wonders...

Rut Disruptor

Finally, we close with the Rut Disruptor, Inspire-O-Gram's exclusive tool for change.

Try this little experiment. Get a bunch of pennies--or the smallest coin your country produces if you live outside the U.S.

Carry a bunch with you every day. Every time you complain or have a negative thought, transfer one coin from your left pocket to your right pocket. At the end of the day, put all the coins from your right pocket into a cup at home. Do this for a week. At the end of the week, count the coins.

Did you realize you complain that much or have that many negative thoughts? And do you understand that your life will take a 180 degree turn for the better the moment you start to change your attitude?

That wraps up another issue, but there's always something new to check out at www.inspiration-for-singles.com. I'm working on some neat surprises for this spring and summer, so stay tuned.

Thanks for the encouraging emails you've sent. You can comment on this newsletter or the site through our contact form.

Winter's nearly over here in the U.S., and Easter's on its way--the most hope-filled holiday in the calendar. Now there's something to be truly happy about.

Until next month, I pray for God's best in your life,
