Issue #007, October 20, 2006

Welcome to Inspire-O-Gram, the newsletter that helps you thrive in the single life!

This month's theme is forgiveness, focusing on God's forgiveness for you and your forgiveness of yourself.

Sometimes it's hard to accept that a holy, sinless God has forgiven us. Here's an article that may help...

Guilt has an important purpose in the life of a single person. Do you know what it is? Learn how to use guilt wisely...

That's a great way to look at confessed sins, and speaking of looking, here's this month's poem:

When you look in the mirror

When you look in the mirror,
who is that looking back?
Is it the innocent victim
of some cruel attack?

Is it some sad soul
who is struggling along
while bearing the burden
of a past that went wrong?

Is it someone who's trying
their hardest to live
but can't say to themself
the words "I forgive"?

If God has forgiven
all the sins that you fear,
shouldn't you forgive the one
looking back in the mirror?

So right!

Since God has forgiven us, we have an obligation to forgive ourselves. If you've had trouble forgiving yourself, try this...

Quote time...

In keeping with our theme of forgiveness, this month's quote is from that shoe salesman turned evangelist, Dwight L. Moody:

"God has cast our confessed sins into the depths of the sea, and He's even put a 'No Fishing' sign over the spot."

Recommended book

If you're a single woman, our featured resource this month will speak strongly to your heart. The Single Truth, by Lori Smith, is one of the most honest, realistic books I've ever read on the single life.

Her chart on the lies we believe as singles vs. God's truth will give you an entirely new outlook on your singleness.

As much as I love the writing of Christian pastors, most of them are married, so they've lost their perspective on what it means to be single in today's culture. Lori Smith is a single woman, whose insights will make you feel much better about your present and your future.

Check out The Single Truth at the top of our Life Changing books page.

Rut Disruptor

Finally, we conclude this issue with the Rut Disruptor, Inspire-O-Gram's exclusive tool for change.

Here's a 15-second exercise that can serve as a real wake-up call:

I want you to look at a quartz wristwatch or quartz clock for just 15 seconds. Watch the second hand, as it ticks off the seconds.

Realize that those seconds are gone and you can never get them back.

Now ask yourself this:

"Am I letting my precious life slip away by postponing happiness until I get married or some other big event happens?"

If you are, it's time to change!

That wraps up the October 2006 issue of Inspire-O-Gram. Good things are around the corner for you in 2007. We have some neat surprises planned for the coming year, so keep clicking our way!

Hoping you're thriving,
