Valentine's encouragement February 11, 2026 |
February 2026 Is God unfair to single people?
It's not just on Valentine's Day. It's when you're sitting in a chair and can't concentrate on what you're reading because you feel so alone. It's when you see couples holding hands. It's when you see little children running and laughing and wish you had your own.
The belief that God is unfair can overwhelm you. Things are not the way they should be. God could fix that, but he doesn't. Why not? This question is as ancient as the book of Job in the Bible, but if you're like me, you don't find God's answer to Job very satisfying. So people have been looking at the misery around them and asking this same question for centuries. Maybe these reflections will help you. Please try to keep an open mind, because there's something better than fairness. Read on…

Patience bears with all the sins But best of all is boundless love You can't explain a love like this ~ Jack Zavada, inspiration-for-singles.com, 2026 ~ Nobody understands like Jesus
Other single people can understand some of your problems, but they can't understand you. If we're honest, most of the time we can't even understand ourselves.
But Jesus understands you because he made you. He knows your mind. He gets your hurts, your disappointments, your anxiety, and even your anger. The encouraging part is that none of your feelings offend him. His love is too big for that. It's easy to underestimate Jesus because we've never encountered anyone else like him. His humanity gives him compassion, and his divinity gives him the ability to heal your heart. The good news is that Jesus saves us from the punishment of hell, but he continues, daily, to save us from ourselves. He never puts you down. He always lifts you up. See why nobody understands like Jesus.

February QOTM: Is God enough? Our Valentine's month Quote of the Month comes from activist and Christian author Hannah Whitall Smith:~ Hannah Whitall Smith (1831 - 1911) ~ It's sad. We believe God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe but that his love is not enough for us. I get it. I really do, because I felt that way a long time. I wanted a real, flesh-and-blood woman to love me. I thought that would solve all my problems. Believing that was a serious problem in itself. But here's an odd truth: The Bible implies there will be no marriage in heaven (Mark 12:25). We will be in relationship with Jesus for all eternity, but not with a spouse. Jesus's love is perfect. It's flawless, without a bit of selfishness. I haven't entirely figured this out yet, but I know that for the Christian, eternal life starts right here, right now, and I believe God's love that started before the creation of the world and included the cross is going to be enough for you and me. No, more than enough. Be shrewd: What that means today
Shrewd. We associate that with business people, but not always in a good way. So what did Jesus mean when he told his apostles to be shrewd? (Matthew 10:16)
We singles need to be shrewd, especially women, because it seems somebody is always trying to cheat us. With the tsunami of information swamping us every day, it's clear others are trying to control our heart and mind. Shrewdness puts us on-guard. It gives us the wisdom to ask questions, investigate, consult others, consider influencers' motives, and avoid snap decisions. We can do those things without becoming cynical. We Christians can be too trusting at times. Shrewdness prevents us from being taken advantage of. Here are some tips to help you hone your shrewdness skills.
The paradox of seeming unimportantI can't get in to see the President of the United States. I can't even get in to see my Governor. But you want to know something mind-blowing? You and I can get in, any time day or night, without an appointment, to talk with the Ruler of the entire Universe. We are always important to Him. When Jesus died on the cross, the veil in the Jerusalem temple was torn in two from top to the bottom. That meant there was no longer a barrier between God and His people. We no longer need human priests as go-betweens. We can talk directly to our Heavenly Father. Jesus himself, who is God, acts as our great High Priest, interceding for us.
We don't appreciate the magnitude of this. We're more enthralled with our cell phones, because we spend 50 times more minutes a day talking on them than we do with God. When you need inner help, you're not going to get it on your phone. How huge is this God? Did you ever consider He can pay undivided attention to each one of millions of people talking to Him simultaneously? How can He do that? I don't know, but it's true! Prayer is often a disappointing exercise, especially when we treat God like a pizza parlor taking our order. The key is to accept whatever He gives us, because He always does what's best, even if it results in pain. I struggle with that, and I know you do too. Surgery on our body is traumatic, and so is surgery on our soul. But the Great Physician always knows what He's doing. This Valentine's Day, thank the Most Important Being in Existence that you can talk with Him whenever you want. Thank Him for his mysterious love, and thank Him that you're on the way to meeting Him face-to-face.
